But first let us learn the basic instructions

Paper Quilling Instructions
These paper quilling instructions will help you get started on the amazing art of paper quilling.

I)All you need is a paper quilling tool.It has a slootted needle. You can buy this tool for only Rs 30 from here.

II)Paper qilling strips: These are long and thin paper strips

You can buy quilling strips for only Rs 60 from here.
III)Glue

Method:

Take a strip of quilling paper .
I would advise you to begin with the slotted quilling tool that is normally provided in a quilling starter kit. Later you may want to move on to using a needle tool or toothpick.

Now take your piece of paper and gently put the end into the slot in the tool. Make sure that only the tiniest bit of paper protrudes through to the other side of the slot. Then, holding the tool in your dominant hand and the paper between your other thumb and index finger, slowly turn the quilling tool so that the paper winds evenly around the tip. Try to keep the edges of the paper lined up

Keep rolling on till you get the desired size.Then let go and turn the tool upside down, allowing the quilled coil to fall off onto the table. The paper will begin to uncoil a little, don't panic, it is supposed to do that. Leave it to "relax" a little and then when it stops uncoiling use a toothpick with a tiny dot of tacky glue on the end to stick the end of the paper in place.

Hold the paper together for a moment or two until the glue dries.
Practice a few times to get perfection

Shaping your coils

You will squeeze and manipulate round coils into different shapes to build up your picture. I will explain them in detail as required in the project....

KITE

Material:
· Paper Strip (red, green, blue, orange, purple, pink and yellow)
· Quilling tools
· Glue
· Scissors
· Eye

Method and construction:
For this we need

Triangle shape (4 in total)
Take a paper strip of 20 cm .make a loose coil and stick its edges. With a loose roll pinch 3 points at the same time, pressing the sides with your thumb and forefinger as you go.

Heart shape (6 in total 2 purple, 2 pink and 2 orange)
Take a paper strip of 10 cm and make a loose roll. Now pinch 2 points at the opposite side. One towards inside while other towards outside.

Take a 5 cm purple paper strip. Divide it into 2 parts by cutting it lengthwise. Make a curve to form the thread of kite .Arrange the other pieces and stick it

BUTTERFLY

Material:
· Paper Strip (pink , green, yellow and purple)
· Quilling tools
· Glue
· Scissors
· Eye

Method and construction:
For this we need

Teardrop shape (4 in total 2 purple big, 2 pink small)
Make loose roll of purple paper strip (30 cm length each) .make a loose roll and take it off the tool. Stick free end to it. Convert it into Teardrop shape by pinching one end of it. Similarly take a14cm pink strip and make similar shape to form the lower wings

Simple coil (2 in total)
Take a paper strip of 8cm of green colour. Bend it from the centre in a V shape. Coil the edges of strip outwards with the quilling tool and leave it loose.

For the centre of butterfly, take a 6 cm long yellow strip. Bend it in U shape and stick both the edges as shown in the diagram.

SIMPLE FLOWER

Material:
· Paper Strip (Red, green and yellow)
· Quilling tools
· Glue
· Scissors

Method and construction:
For this we need to make flowers, leaves and stem

For flower:

Teardrop shape (6 in total)
Make loose rolls of the red paper strip (15 cm length each). Make a loose coil and take it off the tool. Stick the edge. Pinch one end of a loose coil to convert it into a Teardrop shape.

2 Simple coils (1 in total)
For the centre of flower take a yellow strip of 15 cm .Coil the edge of the strip with the quilling tool to make a tight coil. Stick the edge to it

For stem: for this we need 2 loose coil of green colour paper strip (length 15 cm each)
For leaves:

Eye shape coil (3 in total)
Make a loose coil of the 15 cm green colour strip and take it off the tool. Stick the edge. Pinch the loose roll at opposing ends to create this eye shape. Make such 3 shape.

Now stick the flowers and leaves as shown in the diagram .

FEET

Material:

· Paper Strip (Yellow)
· Quilling tools
· Glue
· Scissors

Method and construction:
For this we need

Curled teardrop (4 in total)
Make a loose coil of 1 cm strip and take it off the tool. Stick the edge. Pinch one end of a loose coil to convert it into a Teardrop shape. Curl it downward, the pinched point.

Simple coil (1 in total)
For the fingers, coil the edge of the strip with the quilling tool to make a loose coil. Stick the edge to itself. For this roll the two strips of 7.5cm, 6.5cm, 5.5, 4.5 cm and 3.5cm, each

Stick the pieces as in diagram

FISH

Material:

. Paper Strip (pink , yellow, red and green )

. Quilling tool

. glue

. scissors

. eye

Method and construction:
For this we need

Teardrop shape( 1 in total)
Make loose rolls of the yellow paper strip (15 cm length each) .Now convert it into a Teardrop shape by pinching one end of a loose roll.Adhere the free end to itself after relaxing the roll a little OFF the tool.

2 Simple coil (1 in total)
For the centre of flower take a green strip of (length) cm each .Coil the edge of the strip with the quilling tool, after 8-9 coils stick the edge to itself

For fins : 5 loose coil

For this we need 5 loose coil of pink colour paper strip

Make the lips as shown in the diagram by curling red paper strip . Now stick the fish on the gift tag . Stick the eye in its position

Bookmark Orange and yellow

Material:
· Paper Strip (Yellow and orange)

· Quilling tools
· Glue
· Scissors
· Bookmark stick
· Moti

Method and construction:
For the bookmark motive we need
1. S –shaped Loose coil (4 in total)
Take a yellow strip of 14 cm each .Coil the edge green strip with the quilling tool, after 3-4 coils leave it loose .Now start coiling from the opposite edge in opposite direction and leave it loose after 5-6 coils.

2. Scrolled Heart (4 in total)
Take a orange strip of 7 cm each Fold the strip at the centre and roll the ends in to meet each other then let relax to size you desire.

3. 2 V shaped coil (4 in total)
Cut a yellow strip of 5 cm each. Make a U and stick the edges. Now press the curve formed on the top inwards towards the centre.

Stick the pieces as shown in the diagram .Now stick a white moti in the centre. Stick this motive on the bookmark stick.

Bookmark Red and Green

Material:
· Paper Strip (Red and green)
· Quilling tools
· Glue
· Scissors
· Bookmark stick
· Moti

Method and construction:
For the bookmark motive we need

1. Scrolled Heart (8 in total 4 red colour big hearts and 4 green colour small hearts)
Take a strip of 7 cm each. Fold the strip at the centre and roll the ends inwards to meet each other then let relax to size you desire.

2. Marquise (eye) shape. (8 in total 4 red and 4 green)
Make a loose coil of a strip of 7 cm. Now pinch it at opposing ends to create this eye shape.

Stick the pieces as shown in the diagram .Now stick a white moti in the centre. Stick this motive on the bookmark stick.

Bookmark Yellow and green

Material:

· Paper Strip (Yellow and green)
· Quilling tools
· Glue
· Scissors
· Bookmark stick
· Moti

Method and construction:
For the bookmark motive we need

1. Scrolled Heart (6 in total)
Take a yellow strip of 9 cm each Fold the strip at the centre and roll the ends in to meet each other then let relax to size you desire.

2. Teardrop (6 in total)
Make loose rolls of the green paper strip (14 cm length each). Stick the edges and take off the tool. Now convert it into a Teardrop shape by pinching one end of a loose roll.

Stick the pieces as shown in the diagram .Now stick a white moti in the centre. Stick this motive on the bookmark stick.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARD

Material:
•Paper Strip(Red, blue, yellow, dark green, light green Orange and pink )
•Quilling tools
•Glue
•Scissors
•Blue Card
•Sequence

Method and construction:
Stick the light blue sheet on the blue card . Now start designing
For design we need two things –paper quilling happy birthday and cake

For cake

I)-Teardrop (11 in total 8 yellow and 3 red)
Make loose rolls of the paper strip (14 cm length each) .Now convert it into a Teardrop shape by pinching one end of a loose roll.Adhere the free end to itself after relaxing the roll a little OFF the tool.

II)-Simple coil (5 in total)
Take a blue strip of 14 cm each .Coil the edge of the strip with the quilling tool loosely and stick the edge to itself

III)-Rectangle coil (3 in total )
Take a 14 cm green paper strip .Make a loose coil and pinch it at opposing ends to create this eye shape, Now turn it slightly and then pinch it again on it's 2 opposite sides.

For Happy birthday
Cut the blue paper strips and curl to make alphabets. Take quilling strip of 14 cm and make tight coils. Arrange them on alphabets as shown in the diagram
Stick blue sequence to add spark to your birthday card

ROSE FLOWER CARD PROJECT

Material:
· Paper Strip (Red, green and peach)
· Quilling tools
· Glue
· Scissors
· Grey Card

Method and construction:

1.Rose flower (14 in total ).
Take red and peach paper strip of 14 cm and make roses by following the instructions

Take your slotted tool and slip the end of the paper through the slot.
Wind for a few turns to created the center of your rose.

Next fold the paper down at right angles to the back. This is easiest to understand by following the photo.

Continue rolling, keeping the bottom of your rose lined up and allowing the folded edge to splay away from the tool. As you reach the end of the folded section, fold the paper again. Keep rolling until you only have a short length of paper left.

Release your rose from the tool and allow to relax slightly. Don't let go completely or your rose will unwind! Push the center of your rose downwards so it shows on the underside of your flower and glue. Fold the remaining tag of paper over to cover the glued center and hold until the glue dries.And there you have your finished rose. It may take you a few tries to get a rose that you are happy with .

2- Simple coil ( 12 in total)
Take a green strip of 14 cm each .Coil the edge green strip with the quilling tool, then leave it loose. Make 8 such coils. Make next 2 coils with10 cm strips . last two rolls are round loose coils with stick edges

3.S –shaped Loose coil (4 in total)
Take a green strip of 14 cm each .Coil the edge green strip with the quilling tool, after 3-4 coils leave it loose .Now start coiling from the opposite edge in opposite direction and leave it loose after 5-6 coils .

Arrange the pieces as shown in the diagram.The above elements can also be used to make a card as shown below

Design -2

GREEN BOW CARD PROJECT

Material:
.Paper Strip (Blue and green)
.Quilling tools
.Glue
.Scissors
.Green card
.Blue ribbon
.Half moti

Method and construction:

Teardrop shape (7 in total)
Make loose rolls of the blue paper strip (15 cm length each) .Now convert it into a Teardrop shape by pinching one end of a loose roll. Adhere the free end to itself after relaxing the roll a little OFF the tool.

Semi bow shape (16-17 in total, number may vary depending on placement)
Cut 7 cm long green strip. Make the shape as shown in the diagram

Now arrange the shapes on the card. For stems cut the strips in required size and put the glue on side and stick it on card as shown in the diagram .Make a bow and stick a moti in the centre.

YELLOW FLOWERS CARD

Material:
.Paper Strip (Yellow and green)
.Quilling tools
.Glue
.Scissors
.Card

.Half moti

Method and construction:

1. Fringed Flowers (make 7 in total)
Cut the thick yellow quilling strip as shown in the picture. Make a tight coil and stick the free end to itself with glue. Using the edge of your quilling tool press slightly from the centre to make it blossom. Stick a half moti in the centre.

2. Leaves (16 in total)
Make loose rolls of the think green paper strip (15 cm length each) .Now convert it into a Teardrop shape by pinching one end of a loose roll. Adhere the free end to it after relaxing the roll a little OFF the tool.

3. Buds (4 in total)
For this you need to make two shapes
A) A Marquise shape: made by pinching the loose roll at opposing ends to create this eye shape. Make such 8 shape of yellow strip

B) Half Circle shape: flatten one side of a loose roll by pinching the circle in 2 points the bottom. Make such 4 shape of thick green strip

4. Stems For stems cut the thin strips in required size and put the glue on side and stick it on card as shown in the diagram

CAKE

Material:
•Paper Strip(Yellow, orange, red and green)
•Quilling tools
•Glue
•Scissors

Method and construction:
For this we need
I)-Teardrop (11 in total 10 green and 1 red)
Make a loose coil of 15 cm strip and take it off the tool of green colour. Stick the edge. Pinch one end of a loose coil to convert it into a Teardrop shape to make 8 such shapes to form the two layers of the cake. Similarly roll 15 cm of orange strip to form the burning portion of the candle.

II)-Simple coil (5 in total)
Take a red strip of 15 cm each. Coil the edge of the strip with the quilling tool to make a loose coil and stick the edge to itself. This forms the middle layer of the cake.

III)-Rectangle coil (1)
Take 15 cm yellow paper strip .Make a loose coil and pinch it at opposing ends to create this eye shape, Now turn it slightly and then pinch it again on it's 2 opposite sides.

Stick the pieces as shown in the diagram

GIFTS

Material:
•Paper Strip (peach, green, purple and red)
•Quilling tools
•Glue
•Scissors

Method and construction:
For this we need
1-Square (2 in total 1 red and 1 green)
Take one paper strip of 30 cm .Make a loose coil and stick the edges. Pinch it at opposing ends to create this eye shape, turn it 90 degrees pinch again, and then do that for the opposite 3 sides to make a square of about 1.5 cm.

2- Simple coil (4 in total 2 purple and 2 peach)
Take strip (8 cm) each .Coil the edge of strip with the quilling tool tightly. After entire coil has been done, leave it loose.
Stick the both the coil on one side of the square in middle in opposite directions to give a ribbon effect

3-Teardrop (4 in total 2 purple and 2 peach)
Make loose rolls of half the paper strip (15 cm length each). Make a loose coil and take it off the tool. Stick the edge. Pinch one end of a loose coil to convert it into a Teardrop shape.
From the strip of 15 cm of purple and peach, cut a 2 cm long strip. Divide it into 2 by slitting lengthwise. Stick it over the square in a plus (+) shape to give the ribbon effect and cut the extra strip.Arrange as shown in the diagram

BALLOON

Material:
•Paper Strip(Yellow, orange, red and green)
•Quilling tools
•Glue
•Scissors

Method and construction:
For this we need
Teardrop (3 in total 1 yellow, 1 blue and 1 red)
Make a loose coil of 29 cm strip and take it off the tool. Stick the edge. Pinch one end of a loose coil to convert it into a Teardrop shape to form the balloon of about 2cm length.

Arrow Shape (3 in total 1 yellow, 1 blue and 1 red)
From the 14 cm strip, make a loose roll. Pinch a loose roll to a point on one side and then push in the opposite end in its middle. Sharpen the points beside the dent to form this shape to form the lower part of the balloon.

For threads slit the paper lengthwise in two parts. Make the thread of balloon with green and peach paper strip of about 3 cms.Stick the pieces as shown in the diagram

MONKEY

Material:

Method and construction:

MOUSE

Material

Method and construction:
For this we need
Teardrop (4 in total 1 large and 3 medium)
Take a 30 cm strip. Make a loose coil and take it off the tool. Stick the edge. Pinch one end of a loose coil to convert it into a

Teardrop shape.(1 big )
This will form the body of the mouse of about 3 cm width.
Make similar small shapes with 14 cm purple strip for the head and two 15 cm pink coil for ears.

Simple coil
Take a purple paper strip of 7 cm each .Coil the edge of strip with the quilling tool, to make a loose coil to form a tail.
Similarly make a tight coil with 7 cm strip and Stick the loose end to it to form the nose.

Triangle shape (1 in total)
Take a yellow paper strip of 30 cm .With a loose roll pinch 3 points at the same time, pressing the sides with your thumb and forefinger as you go. This will form the cheese of the mice

Make a tight coil with a 15 cm strip to form the nose
Stick the pieces of mouse as shown in the diagram on the gift tag

TEDDY BEAR

Material

· Paper Strip (Brown and Red)
· Quilling tools
· Glue
· Scissors
· Black Motis-2

Method and construction:
For this we need

Teardrop (1)
Take a strip of 30 cm.. Make a loose coil and take it off the tool. Stick the loose end to coil. Pinch one end of a loose coil to convert it into a Teardrop shape . It forms the lower body of the teddy

Simple coil (5 in total 2 small , two medium and 1 large )

Coil the edge of the strip with the quilling tool to make a loose coil and stick the edge to itself

Half Circle shape (2 in total)
Flatten one side of a loose roll by pinching the circle in 2 points the bottom. Make such 2 shape of brown strip of 14 cm (half strip) to form the ears

Slitting the red strip lengthwise, make a red bow .Stick the pieces of teddy bear as shown in the diagram .Stick black motis on face to give the eye effect.

GIRAFFE

Material:
· Paper Strip (orange, and brown)
· Quilling tool
· Glue
· Scissors
· Eye

Method and construction:
For this we need

Semi U shaped (1 in total)
Stick two strips of mustard yellow from the edge to make a long strip of 58 cm.Make loose roll and stick the edges. Now convert it into semi u by pinching the top two ends.

Teardrop shape (1 in total)
Make loose roll of brown paper strip (15 cm length) .Now convert it into a Teardrop shape by pinching one end of it .Stick the free end to itself after relaxing the roll a little OFF the tool.

Curled teardrop (2 in total)
Variation of above, just curl downward, the pinched point. Take orange paper strip of 15 cm each to make the ears.

Bunny Ears (2 in total)
Take a 15 cm brown paper strip. Make these by pinching the loose roll at both sides of the top of the roll.

Square (4 in total, 2 big, 2 medium)
Take a 15 cm orange paper strip .Make a loose coil and pinch it at opposing ends to create this eye shape , turn it 90 digs pinch again ... and then do that for the opposite 3 sides.

Simple coil (2 in total)
Take a brown paper strip of 10 cm each . bend it from middle to form a V shape. Coil the two edges of strip outwards with the quilling tool, after 5-6 coils leave it loose

M-shape (2 in total)
Take a brown paper strip of 15 cm each. Make a loose coil and pinch it on two sides. Now in the middle of the two pinch the coil inwards to make an M.

Now stick the parts of giraffe on paper. On the clay face sticks the eyes and makes the expressions of giraffe with help of paint and brush.

LION

Material:

Method and construction:

Semi U shaped (1 in total)

Teardrop shape (1 in total)
Make a loose coil of 15 cm strip and take it off the tool of orange colour. Stick the edge. Pinch one end of a loose coil to convert it into a Teardrop shape for tail.

Bunny Ears (2 in total)
Take a 15 cm mustard yellow paper strip. Make these by pinching the loose roll at both sides of the top of the roll to make the hands.

Square (2 in total)
Take 14 cm mustard yellow paper strip .Make a loose coil and pinch it at opposing ends to create this eye shape, turn it 90 digs pinch again ... and then do that for the opposite 3 sides

Simple coil (2 in total)
For ears take orange strip of 7 cm each .Coil the edge of the strip with the quilling tool, stick the edge to itself

Make the hair of lion by making curled vs. of orange paper strip. Now stick the other parts of lion . On the clay face sticks the eyes and makes the expressions of lion with help of paint.

You can make other animals with help of the shape of coils just taught. Use your imagination and creativity to make your own paper quilling zoo.

MATERIAL:

METHOD AND CONSTRUCTION
For this we need

Teardrop shape( 1 in total)
Take a white strip (30 cm length). Make a loose coil and take it off the tool. Stick the edge. Pinch one end of a loose coil to convert it into a Teardrop shape.This will form the body of the penguin of about 2 cm length.

Curled teardrop(2 in total)
Variation of above, just curl downward, the pinched point.Take black paper strip of 15 cm each to make the wings.

Simple coil (1 in total)
For face take a black strip of 15 cm each . Coil the edge of the strip with the quilling tool to make a loose coil. Stick the edge to itself

Triangle shape: (1 in total)
Take 15 cm yellow coil and make a loose roll, now pinch 3 points at the same time, pressing the sides with your thumb and forefinger to make the beak

Tulip Shape (2 in total)
Make a simple coil of orange colour strip of 15 cm and then pinch another point into one side. Push the 3 points inward toward each other to make feet.

Stick the pieces and then the eyes on the paper

DUCK

Material:

Paper Strip (Red and yellow)

Quilling tools

Glue

Scissors

Eyes

Face made of mseal or clay

Method and construction:

For this we need

Teardrop shape (3 in total)
Make loose roll of yellow paper strip (15 cm length each) .Now convert it into a Teardrop shape by pinching one end of itself. Stick the free end to it after relaxing the roll a little OFF the tool.

Curled teardrop (1 in total)
Variation of above, just curl downward, the pinched point. Take yellow paper strip of 15 cm each to make the wings.

Semi U shaped (1 in total)
Stick two strips from edge to make a long strip of 60 cm.Make loose roll of yellow paper strip (60 cm length each) .Now convert it into semi U by pinching the top two ends.

Make a beak with red paper by making 2 V’s as shown in the diagram. Arrange all pieces and stick it on the card or paper
